Rutgers Rant: Would Senior Day win over Illinois mark successful 2024 season for Scarlet Knights?

Rutgers can send off its standout senior class in style on Saturday.
The Scarlet Knights (6-4, 3-4) host No. 24 Illinois (7-3, 4-3) on Senior Day, a contest that marks the final home game for the first recruiting class of Greg Schiano’s second stint in Piscataway. Beyond the sentimental aspect, the victory would be significant for Rutgers in multiple ways:
— It would snap a 15-year, 40-game losing streak against ranked opponents, the longest among Power Four programs.
— It would set a program record for Big Ten wins in a season (4) and keep Rutgers on track for its first winning record in conference play since joining the league.
— It would mark the first three-game winning streak in Big Ten play in program history.
Would it officially mark a successful season for the Scarlet Knights?
The Rutgers Rant is back to discuss that question, preview the contest and break down what the Illini bring. We also review the men’s basketball team’s win over Merrimack on Wednesday in which five-star freshman Ace Bailey carried the load offensively.
